Bernd Zander (Chairman)

Bernd Zander, born 1949, began his career after completing his apprenticeship as an aviation salesman with Deutsche Lufthansa in 1973 in the fields of customer service and marketing (focus tourism, South America).

In 1980 Bernd Zander took over the management of the social and personnel policy unit abroad. Bernd Zander has set up the social insurance sector with all aspects of market analysis, performance planning, collective bargaining, product selection, financing and investment (in particular pension funds in the USA and the UK) as well as monitoring, growth and structuring of the LH Group into an independent business unit.

Bernd Zander has more than 35 years of experience in the field of Employee Benefit / Benefits & Compensation. Within the scope of these tasks, Bernd Zander and his team have dealt with social protection in all Lufthansa countries. His personal focus was on Brazil, South Africa, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia, the USA and the UK.

In the UK in particular, Mr. Zander has more than 30 years of experience as a trustee of the various pension funds of the Lufthansa Group, and has been driving the modernization and balanced financing of these occupational pension systems.

Bernd Zander has been Chairman of the Advisory Board of MIBAV Service GmbH, since 2016.

Hugh Patrick Gallagher

Born Edinburgh, 1957

Graduate in European Studies, UEA (1975-79) appointed Research Fellow, Edinburgh University Europea Institute (1980-82) and subsequently seconded to the European Legal Service of the European Commission in Brussels.

Engaged by Insurope, an association of Life Insurance Companies (1982 – 2015), playing an important role in developing that association into a leading network of employee benefit providers for multinational companies worldwide and a framework of reference for the provision of pensions in Europe.

Shortlisted as European Pensions Personality of the Year 2014 for forging a market reputation for Insurope in respect of high quality content conferences treating employee benefits and pension issues on a worldwide scale (Berlin 1982 – Montreal 2012).

In 2007, invited to join the board of IEBA (International Employee Benefit Association) and instrumentel in re-engineering the IEBA Annual Brussels Conference as a driver for the growth of the membership as well as an event of reference on the international employee benefits calendar today. Appointed Chairman of IEBA (2013-2015), Vice-Chairman (2015-2017) and currently board member responsible for marketing and corporate development.

Played over 600 amateur league matches for Royal Brussels British FC (1980-2018).
